UMass Wins First Game of the Year

23 Sep 2017 by Tatum Schulz

Last night the team took on the Hartford Wolfpack for their first exhibition game of the year. Even though there were a lot of new faces in the line up that didn’t seem to stop UMass from taking the win 3-2.

The Minutemen dominated the puck, outshooting the Wolfpack 39 to 23. Scoring came late in the first with 1:20 remaining, Sullivan (4) buried the rebound assisted by O’Sullivan (13) and Adamson (20). The Wolfpack answered in the second tying up the game. UMass came out flying in the third with goals from freshman defenseman DeMarco (17), assisted by Sullivan (5) and Sullivan (4). And freshman forward Adamson (20) puts one in with 7:02 left in the game assisted by Aluia (8) and Lee (22). Senior goalie Sam Baturin had a solid game in the pipes for the team. It was awesome to see the incoming freshman show us what they were made of by putting points on the board. We are all excited to see what the year brings!

Catch the Minutemen back in action September 29th and 30th as they host UConn Huskies at the Mullins Center Practice Rink. Puck drops at 7:30pm Friday and 11 am Saturday.
